Description

This is like the little brother of Impro Match , and like Impro Match it is popular in French-speaking countries, particularly in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Here is how it works.

2-4 teams of 2 players play a competition. They play rounds of improvised scenes, the titles (or "themes") are provided by a "referee" . Themes may include limitations like "no speaking", or a style ("western"). Teams get 5 seconds to "prepare" before the scene starts. Preparation time is called "caucus". The audience votes which team wins the point.

The catch aspect refers to the extravant dressing up of the teams, like westlers in a catch match. Be it that the teams not neccesarily dress up like catch players; any type of dress-up goes.

Origin

The format is attributed to the Belgian company Tadam and Inedit Theatre in Strassbourg. As far as we know, and unlike Impro Match the format is not copyrighted in the sense that a license is not needed to perform it.
